आत्मीयता जीवन का उद्देश्य है, प्रकृति(माया)से प्राप्त शरीर,शरीर की इंद्रियों की आत्मीयता चाहता है। पुरुष(भगवान) से प्राप्त आत्मा, मन, बुद्धि भी आत्मीयता ही चाहती है, आत्मा ईश्वर का स्पर्श से आत्मीय होना चाहती है, मन नित नवीन चित्रों के स्पर्श से आत्मीय होना चाहती है। बुद्धि ज्ञान से आत्मीयता चाहती है।

Intimacy is the very purpose of life; the body—derived from Nature (Maya)—seeks intimacy through its senses. The Soul, Mind, and Intellect—derived from the Supreme Being (Purusha)—likewise yearn for intimacy: the Soul seeks to attain oneness through the touch of the Divine; the Mind seeks intimacy through the touch of ever-novel impressions; and the Intellect seeks intimacy through knowledge.
